Description
I love this camera. I listed it a year ago then removed it after a few hours. But alas the time has come to try and part with it once more. Not enough space in the private collection!
Features: The Werra 1 is a beautifully simple, functional and joyous camera to use. There are many variations in the Werra range, spanning about 11 years from 1954 onwards. All of them feature a unique shutter winding mechanism on the barrel of the lens. In fact all the controls are on the lens.
Versions: This version is – as far as I can tell – a Werra 1c from 1962. It’s a “Flat Top” version with viewfinder, no hotshoe or lightmeter, and speeds from B+1-750 (some go to 250, some to 500). The lens is a Carl Zeiss Jena ‘Tessar’ f2.8 50mm.
Condition: The body inside and out are clean and in great condition with only minor marks gathered over it’s 63 years off the production line. The optics are nice and clear, and film transport is good. I ran several films thorough this camera with no trouble. Some sample images are included in the gallery. If there’s one ‘issue’ it’s that the winding mechanism ‘creaks/squeaks’ a bit sometimes. Everything works so well I decided not to take the thing apart to fix it. Call it a ‘feature’ and embrace it!
About price: I know some folks are selling this camera for £100-150. If you’re worried why this one is cheap, it’s simply down to personal ethos etc.
